Problems with CoolType are often due to corrupted websites. In particular, the Corrupt pmingliu font is known to cause this error. The Photoshop Album 1.0.1 update downloads a version of the new CoolType font library.
AdobeFnt*.lst files have become font cache files used by Adobe features to collect and store information about available fonts. The AdobeFnt.Files lists are usually created when the application is first launched. If any of these file types are corrupted, it can result in inconsistent font behavior when used by Adobe. If you rename the delete file or the Adobefnt*.lst file, it will recreate that file the next time you run it.
Adobe apps use the shared components folder in //Program Files/Common Files/Adobe. If any of these distributed components are corrupted, Adobe Applications returns cooltype errors.

I’m using Photoshop CS5.1 on a compiled wine translation (1.8.3 is the latest stable version). From
1) Compile and 1 install wine.8.(wow64)
2)3 Installed Photoshop on a Windows 7 workstation and copied the files there
3) Create a giant magnum bottle for PSCS5.1
If I run photoshop as root and run it with almost no problem. However, when I run the same bottle script as Wine, and the last normal user, I get this particular error on initialization step PSSC5.1 -> “Could not initialize Photoshop directly. Just don’t succeedAxis to initialize CoolType”. Initially I thought it might be a file permission issue with PSCS5.1 or the wine binary (777) doesn’t work the same. Usually I’m wandering around trying to figure these things out here but I’m a complete mess. Additional note: Running a self-created 64-bit binary doesn’t help either.
I’m trying to switch Photoshop ZBrush to Linux so I don’t have to use Windows in our production environment. Any help is appreciated.
